Hotel Fortina

The year is 1966 and the 65-bedroom Hotel Fortina opens its doors for the first time in what would later become one of Malta’s leading tourist hotspots, Sliema. Going from strength to strength, and in a bid to meet the ongoing demand, 12 years later, the hotel’s footprint was extended by another 35 rooms, successfully elevating the Fortina from the 3* to the 4* category.

The growing demand for more luxurious accommodation required a more innovative mindset, particularly in an industry where competition was and is intense and unrelenting. Living up to its reputation as an innovator in the field, the Hotel Fortina soon delivered a unique, ground-breaking concept which further enhanced its standing within the sector.

The Fortina Spa Resort 5* was opened in 2005, boasting  Dine Around the World concept in 7 restaurants, 5 bars, 7 swimming pools (including 3 indoor pools), a tropical garden and lido area, the Thalasso Therapy SPA Centre, Belle Époque Beauty Centre, Spa Sante and the Hypogeum: Body, Mind and Spirit Spa offering a range of over 200 different treatments, a state of the art dental clinic, the Fortina Fitness Centre, and the Maurice Suite meeting room.

Today, the Fortina is undergoing massive redevelopment aiming to transform this prime site, which boasts the unique, magnificent view of the island’s capital Valletta — into a state-of-the art, mixed-use development to be completed by January 2021.  Covering a a built-up area of circa 60,000m2, this project will include a 215-room 5-star hotel, 60 designer luxury apartments, a massive public open space, a sprawling retail area over two levels, an office block, parking facilities, spa, gym, lido, specialised dining areas /restaurants and conference facilities… All in keeping with the Fortina’s tradition of offering impeccable, top-notch products and services.

Standardising Excellence

In the 23 years since we first began our journey we have added numerous services to our list including outsourcing personnel to the hospitality, care, manufacturing and security industries, and specialised cleaning services for aircraft and hospitals, among others. Even so, our passion, commitment and reliability remain at the heart of everything we do.

In 2014 we opened our own OZO Academy, which provides all our employees with specialised training and certification recognised by Malta’s National Commission for Further and Higher Education (NCFHE). This, coupled with other initiatives that benefit both workers and clients – such as the fact that all our employees are insured, unionised and paid well-above minimum wage – continues to ensure high-quality service done genuinely and enthusiastically.

We strive to provide our customers with services which meet and even exceed their expectations therefor we are committed to continuous improvement. The Group have appointed two (2) independent Quality Assurance Officers that report directly to the Group’s Chief Executive Officer.

The Group also pertains the ISO 9001:2015 Certification, that reflects the rigorous quality systems and procedures in place to support us in our aim of total customer satisfaction and continuous improvement throughout our business.
